This post is going to be short because as much as Defiance was interesting it was also pretty darn boring. Most of my interest in the story came from Logan. He’s more analytic and strategic than Rachel, which made me relate to him. I take on the world in a more practical matter like Logan does. On the contrary, Rachel is impulsive and emotional. Her cancerous grief and impulsiveness are the main reasons so much action occurs in the story. If Rachel wasn’t such a pain in the butt, there’d be no story. Other than Baalboden being a misogynistic city-state and the Commander overcompensating for his latent cowardice, the story doesn’t have many noticeable features. Nonetheless, I will be reading the next book solely for more Logan. I like when the emphasis is put on a guy’s brain instead of his looks.

On another note, in my mind, Rachel looks like a realistic version of this:
